Dreams - Visions or Evil Tactics

What do we make of dreams?  Are they visions from God, Our Almighty, or are they fear tactics from our enemy - satan?

The Bible has records of dreams being used to prophesy as with Joseph's dream of rising above his brothers.  God used Joseph and Daniel to interpret dreams for the Pharoah and Kings they served.

Should we discount our dreams?  I think not.  We need to go into prayer with the Lord and ask for Him to reveal their meanings. See what the Lord is trying to tell us or warn us about.

We need to be careful not to allow our dreams to take hold of our lives and make us fearful to live.  If our dreams are a vision from the Lord, we need to remember that satan still has the power to use those visions against us.  To tempt us to fixate on the dream and what may or may not happen instead of fixating our hearts and minds on the Lord who will comfort us and bring us peace.

I have had dreams this year that have haunted me.  So real that I wake up crying and surprised that my life is still as it was when I fell asleep.

I prayed on these dreams.  I believe that the Lord is trying to forewarn of something crucial in my life.  Those who are a part of these dreams that I have shared my dreams with disbelieve that it could really happen.  After all who wants to admit that they could be tempted by anything and actually give in to such hurtful circumstances?

But, I also allowed these dreams to take control of my daily life.  Unable to focus or capable of loving fully those around me for fear of being mocked and or rejected.

So maybe that is the lesson God has been trying to get through to me.  Maybe I am not putting Him first? Maybe I was idolizing others more than my Lord?  Spending too much time fearing persecution rather than accepting others exploits gracefully knowing full well God is allowing this to build me up in character.

It has been a long road of discouragement, fear, neglect but in the end I will triumph for I love the Lord and will listen to Him and walk with Him. We are so lucky to have a forgiven Lord who will not throw us off the holy road for our mistakes or else I would be in some serious trouble.

After all if we do not walk with the Lord, if we are not obedient to Him, if we are not in prayer with Him each day, if we are not reading His Word and preparing ourselves daily for the world around us, we will fall to the point of self-destruction which will also destroy those around us.  Possibly even drive them away.

But in the end we can always count on God to be there for us.  To love us, care for us, forgive us, and to turn that bad situation into good for us.

So today I am excited about whatever lies ahead.  Whether bad or good in my human eyes, no matter how hurtful it may be for me, God has my best at heart.  He knows what is best for me.  He will make it all work out for me because He loves me that much.

In God's Peace and Love,

Mary Ludolph
