Returning to our God...

Is it possible to turn away from God and return to Him?  Is it possible to feel close to God yet know there are things in your life that you need to change? Can we change the unrighteous things in our lives?  How long will our God wait upon us?

These are all great questions.  And ones I am sure we all face whether we believe in the God of our universe or not.

We are all with fault.  Even when we accept Jesus into our heart and decide to put our hope into God we are not without sin.  Our sin is covered by the blood of Christ, however, we go on sinning and repenting and changing and growing.

There are times when the sin is something that we never thought of as sin before and we come to the knowledge and understanding that it is not righteous.

There are times when the sin is something we know is not healthy for us in the long run but it does not seem to be hurting us at the time.

There are times when the sin has such a hold on us and we are so comfortable living it that we do not understand or desire to let it go.

Our God is a just God.  He is a merciful God.  Israel and Judah lived in such unfaithfulness for so long but what did God say unto them:

Return, faithless people,” declares the Lord, “for I am your husband. I will choose you—one from a town and two from a clan—and bring you to Zion. 15 Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding. 16 In those days, when your numbers have increased greatly in the land,” declares the Lord, (Jeremiah 3:14-16)

“Return, faithless people;
    I will cure you of backsliding.” (Jeremiah 3:22)

God know our hearts and how much we desire to be a part of Him.  Do not allow Satan to lead you to believe your downfalls will keep you from knowing our awesome wonderful God.  Satan hates God and wants you to believe in your insecurities and believe that God will not accept you.

That is so untrue.  He loves you and me for who we are in Him as He has fearfully created us to love Him and to love each other - faults and all.

Lord, I look forward to the day when I see you in heaven for I believe you sent your Son Jesus Christ to earth through a virgin to die on the cross for our sins and you raised from the dead three days later to justify us.  I believe in you and know I have everlasting life in you.  Amen.
