Great is thy faithfulness...

When I think of faith in the Lord, knowing he provides for my daily needs is what comes to mind first.  But do we really act as though He will do this?

The Israelites thought they were obedient unto the Lord.

They cryed out to Him from Egypt to free them.  After authorizing10 plagues on the Egyptians, splitting the Red Sea for the Israelites to cross, and bringing those same seas back down on the Egyptians, the Israelites may have praised and rejoiced God on the other side of the sea for their freedom, but it did not take long for them to start complaining once again.

Can you relate to this?

I sure can.  We are currently doing a study in our Sunday School Class about our faith in God.  What we should not do and how does real faith look.

God is able.

Remember God is able to do or not do what He wants.  This belief is central to our faith in Him.

So why did He let the Israelites go through the Red Sea with the Egyptians following behind.  Think of that nail biter situation.

They are on their way to freedom but their captors are about 2 steps behind them with chariots and horses and weapons.  And what are the Israelites carrying besides some of their own possessions.  Gold and jewelry from some of the Egyptians.  Prior to their leaving Egypt God softened the hearts of the Egyptians and they handed over their precious jewels to the Israelites.

So what is going through their mind?  This Moses is crazy for taking us from here.  He is going to get us killed.  Where is God now?  He is supposed to allow us to walk to freedom not run from the enemy?

Is that really true?  If God allowed us to escape each and every nail biting situation with a smooth walk in the park away from the circumstance, would we rely on Him more?  Would we see His mighty works?

The Israelites doubted God could save them from the Egyptians.  They got on the other side of the Red Sea and saw the enemy coming and instead of saying "How mighty is our God!"  They questioned His power and authority.

Even unto death God wants us to believe that He is able.  He is able.  And what He decides or not decides is for the good of ourselves or those around us.

We are not here to serve ourselves as the world would like us to believe.  We are here to serve others and become more like Christ each day awaiting His return.

Have a blessed day, brothers and sisters:)
