“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?" (Matthew 7:1-4)
Judging others is not something any one of us would like to think that we do. Just like most of us would not confess to gossiping. These are two areas of my life which I had to work strongly to remove from my life and to this day need to work on daily to make sure that I do not do.
It amazes me how throughout the day just something that someone does can lead me to think "how can they..." I need to stop myself and think have I been without sin today? Have I been perfect? Is there something that I might have done or said that someone else would think "oh geez!" I stop right there and ask the Lord for forgiveness and to take these ill thoughts from my head and to tie my tongue if it is not something godly to say.
When I think of the verse above and how I have judged others in the past, it scares me. I do not want the Lord to judge me as hard as I have been to others.
Whether we like it or not we are a judgmental people. We see the unethical or immoral acts of someone else and think "how could they?" or " they should be punished for such..." Yet cannot see the wrongs within our own self.
God does not see a difference between one sin or another. He has called us all to be forgiven by Him. Jesus said it best “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” (John 8:7)
Even Jesus did not come to judge the world or those who do not want to believe in Him. He knows that that will be His Father's job - our one and only Creator - God! But He came to save the world. (John 12:47)
A challenge for us all today: Instead of breaking someone down, let us try to build one another up in love and encouragement.
How awesome He is! All glory and honor be yours Almighty Father!
Have a great and blessed day my brothers and sisters!
Love, Mary
