Faith! Do we have it? I seem to think that I am filled with such until I have a weak moment. Yesterday was one of those days. Why do others get so angry over the simplest of things in life? Why do we allow ourselves to be consumed by their ongoing angry and feel so in adequate?
It is so hard for me at the moment of being accused or ridiculed to remember to just call on the name of the Lord for peace. Instead I find myself calling to Him to gripe or mourn the situation. It is not until later that I find myself using the trial to grow closer to Him. One day I will get it right.
So this morning I found myself needing to review yesterdays devotion from Intouch ministries. (Don't receive the In Touch magazine? Excellent reading get it here for free!)
Walking by Faith
“Having been firmly rooted”—At the moment of salvation, believers are “planted” in Christ. Our roots grow deep as we anchor ourselves in the Lord, drawing our spiritual nourishment from Him.
“Being built up in Him”—The believer’s life is built on the foundation of the Savior through obedience. God wants us to choose precious and valuable building materials that will last into eternity (1 Cor. 3:10-15).
“Established in your faith”—In time, as we begin to understand more about the Lord and how He operates, our trust in Him increases, and we experience stability even in the winds of adversity.
Faith does not necessarily come to us instantly. We work on our faith by committing ourselves to the Lord and growing with Him in prayer and reading His Word. We need to allow Him to penetrate our everyday living.
Here is a great quote from Martin Luther King, Jr.: "I have so much business I cannot get on without spending three hours daily in prayer." Three hours in prayer? Wow. Are we spending enough time building ourselves up in the Lord?
Have a blessed day and may God build you up in His strength and renew your Spirit.
