As I was spending time with the Lord this morning concentrating on not praying "But ifs..." and "Let me..." prayers, that maybe we can be too demanding too.
Going to the throne in confidence and having faith in Him is what we need to do. However, as humans we know that overconfidence can come off as ego. Are we telling the Lord that "You are going to do this..." or "You will do this..."
Our hearts may be in the right place but we really do need to watch our tongue. "Your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor, you who practice deceit." Psalm 52:2 And make sure we are in true confidence of His abilities.
"Lord, break my pridefulness and shape me according to your will."
"My tongue will speak of your righteousness and of your praises all day long." Psalm 35:28
"In prayer, real prayer, we begin to think God's thoughts after Him, to desire the things He desires to love the things He loves, to will the things He wills." Richard Foster
