God longs to know you deeply and lovingly my dear friend. He wants to know what you are thinking, feeling, desiring.
Our human relationships are built on daily communication. God desires the same thing from us. To speak with Him through prayer. Confess our sins to open the gateway of communication and to clear the path that prohibits us from hearing Him. To open our hearts, minds and souls to Him, to let Him know of our fears, desires, concerns, acknowledging His Lordship and our dependence on Him.
Through the cross, God established a new covenant for those who place their trust in the Lord Jesus (Luke 22:20) - He agreed to forgive our sins, adopt us into His family, and watch over us. This salvation depends not upon our works but upon the completed work of Jesus who died in our place (Eph2:8). God also sent His Spirit to live in us as proof of our salvation and to be ever-present with us. He is interested in every aspect of our lives and promises to hear our prayers.
By examining our habits and thought life we can know whether our attention is on the Lord or other things. Starting our day thinking of Him instead of our own plans and regularly reading and applying Scripture demonstrates a heart that is pursuing Him.
Pursue Him today, start a prayer pattern and devotion time today! It is never too late to develop healthy habits!
