How many of us still each day try to go it alone? Are you using your own energy and reasoning to get through the day and make decisions?
Lately it has been so tough to get back into the groove of things after being down with mono. Just a few weeks of extra rest and my body cannot get back into the exercise routine, spiritual routine....its like starting from scratch. That is right where God needs me to be.
So many days I believe I give myself over to the Lord and rely upon Him for all I need and do. Then I read my devotional today regarding our victory in life through dependence upon the Lord.
I started thinking about my mornings. See I used to get up at about 4 a.m. to pray, read, exercise....So before I go to bed I ask the Lord to give me the energy and motivation I need to get up and start my day with Him. So this morning for example, I popped up at 3:40 a.m. wide awake. What did I do? Clicked on my internal snooze clock, made excuses why I should be able to lay back down for 15 minutes.
When my daughter woke me up about a half hour later to say she had a bad dream, I thought see I needed to be here to comfort her. Was this an excuse? Quite frankly I would have been more comfort to her up and praying.
So who was I relying on? The Lord did His job. He woke me up. He gave me the energy. My body sees darkness and goes into hiding. Or some other lame excuse to get out of doing what the Lord was equipping me to do.
Disobedience. Not good.
Obedience to Christ is too difficult for anyone who is relying on their own strength. Recognize the Lord's help in your life. Don't make excuses to not fulfill His will. Watch Him in action and reap the benefits.
Begin each day confessing your dependence upon Him. Ask to be filled with His Holy Spirit so that all you think, do, and say will be an overflow from Him. Then trust Him to work in mighty ways through you.
Praise God!
How awesome He is! All glory and honor be yours Almighty Father! Have a great and blessed day my brothers and sisters!
