The question is what do you believe? Given this knowledge what have you done with the truth. Have you denied it, discarded it, mocked it? Or have you cradled it, loved it, and accepted it?
Recently I have been reading a book a got for my husband for his birthday - he has already read it twice. I will be reading it again as there is so much I want to share. It is Max Lucado's 3:16: The Numbers of Hope
You have not read it? Get it and read it. Don't believe in God or salvation - get it and read it. It is an awesome read for believers and non-believers.
Today I would like to talk about God's promise to us in that we will not perish if we believe in Him. Max Lucado goes into detail in his book about heaven and hell and the realities of these two eternal lives. This struct a cord for me.
You see I believe in God, The Father, the Almighty, the maker of heaven and earth and have faith in Him. I believe in His One and Only Son that died on the cross and took our sins upon Him so that we may have eternal life in heaven.
However, I know that there are those in this world that deny God's existence. They still believe that Mother Nature controls the weather and that the daily horoscope is going to lead them to their destiny today. My heart aches for them.
In Max's book he speaks of heaven and hell being real places just as real as this earth. They are my friend. They are as real as that cup of coffee you are having right now. It should scare you. I do not know about you but I do not want to end up in place for all of eternity where I am going to be burned by the fire and not be able to quench my thirst.
As I sit here writing this I feel the negative forces, the evil, satan, trying to confuse my words and wanting me to give up on writing this. Why? Because he is real. He does not want you or anyone to realize his reality and be given the knowledge that you have an invitation in front of you. To follow God and not perish or to deny the Lord and be destroyed by evil.
The other day my daughter asked me if we should believe in the devil. I told her yes. We are to believe in him - not worship him but believe in him. We need to realize that he is there in our path each and every day trying to make us stumble, trying to get us to believe that it is okay to follow our own hearts. Do not let him corrupt you into thinking that after you die you can suddenly choose to follow God because know you realize the reality of the pits of fire.
There are no crossroads between heaven and hell. There is no turning back once you have gone from this world.
Don't be caught up in his lie. Accept the truth today and make God your stronghold. You will be so thankful you did. For whomever believes in Him shall not perish. I do not want you to be destroyed.
Love, Mary
