Reasons to Believe in the Bible

I want to share a devotional (to read the devotional please click on the title of the blog "Reasons to Believe in the Bible.") from Intouch.org by Dr. Charles Stanley, a man I find to be very in touch with the Lord. He never fails to deliver a truthful message from the Lord. Read his biography here. I thought starting off the blog with some Bible basics would be a great start. And the last two devotionals I have read from Dr. Charles Stanley pertain to just that.

God's Word is everlasting. It is Truth. How can we believe in what His Word tells us? How can we know it to be true?

We can believe in what the Heavenly Father tells us because He is ever faithful in His promises.

In fact, the Lord is ever so faithful, He has challenged us "test me in this."


Even science and government have not been able to disprove the Bible.  Everytime some scientist or government official comes up with some new great theory of why Jesus was not the Messiah or attempts to disprove the validity of the Bible I have to giggle.  They are so round about in their attempts.  These intelligent people search so hard for cold-hard facts to disprove God and His Son and His Holy Spirit exist (It is written God will confuse the intelligent.)  They actually sound so foolish.  Nothing they say ever is concrete but speculation.  They become so wordy and use such big words to "wow" us that we as human beings give in to these tempting theories for the need to cling to something more tangible.  We are so materialistic.


The Truth can be found in the Bible.  The Truth is that God created this world, this universe.  It did not just appear.  The Truth is that He has always been there.  The Truth is that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from ourselves.  The Truth is that His Holy Spirit is capable of descending upon each and everyone of us the moment we take these truths into our hearts.


What these scientists and officials leave out is that the Bible came from Scriptures that were found years ago.  These were not words just jotted down on paper from one person.  They truly are God-breathed words from prophets.


Yes, maybe, there are other documents being founded to discredit what you see in the Bible.  But that, my friends, is the work of the enemy in his foolish attempt to trick you. Satan is of this world and is working hard to turn anyone and everyone away form God. Why?  Because he fears his own demise which is already certain. He has already been defeated but out of foolishness, pride, and envy he continues to prey upon you as he does not want to be alone in that firy lake.


Please do not be fooled.  The Truth (God) is forever but a lie (Satan) is only for a moment.

We can accept Jesus today, apply the Bible (God's Word) to our daily lives, and watch the story unfold through our own personal experiences.
